PROGRESS OF WORKS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF CELLULAR BOX CAISSONS

This was the first time that this mode of caissons construction was realized in Greece. However, 48 caissons were built and installed in 265 working days with an average of 5.5 working days per caisson and decreasing trend line. The time needed for the construction of the caissons was a record even in the international standards on this specific machine.
The high speed of construction allowed the construction company to keep the timetable, since the inability to succeed in the vibro compacted method and the extremely increased amounts of excavations and ripraps delayed the project's progress, compared to the initial estimates.
